Beans & Butter Coffeehouse

Beans Butter Coffee House copy

Beans & Butter Coffeehouse is a great local restaurant that I wanted to let you know about if you are in the Lawrenceville, GA area near Atlanta.

I have known Mr. Simmons for a few years now. Everything that I have ever eaten that he has cooked has been delicious.  I first tasted his food at Scouting events that were catered by him. He has professional training as a chef and used to run a restaurant in Chicago and now has this marvelous family owned local coffee shop called Beans & Butter.

All of the food is fresh and hand made and there is free WIFI.

I have personally had his turkey sandwich, and the egg and cheese bun.  The bread is freshly made and the ingredients are fresh and taste delicious. I have tried an almond croissant and it was delicious as well.

I am not a coffee drinker, but I have had the hot black tea which is very good.  It is brewed with tea leaves instead of ground tea.

Other customers have said that the coffee is great.

If you get a chance, I highly recommend stopping by for a cup of coffee or tea and a sandwich or pastry.

Please support this local business. They are located at 851 Oak Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30047.  They are at the end of the shopping center.

Captain Kirk Stole My Bike

I have always been a big fan of Star Trek. One of my favorites is Star Trek: The Original Series. I really like the chemistry between Captain Kirk, Spock, and Bones. (William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley. )

Recently I listened to William Shatner’s biography about Leonard Nimoy called Leonard: My Fifty-Year Friendship with a Remarkable Man. It was great listening to William Shatner read the book.

One of the funniest parts of the book is when William Shatner talks about the time that he took Leonard’s Nimoy’s bike when they were filming the early episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series.

The Star Trek sound stage was quite a ways from the commissary where lunch was served. The lunch period was only 30 minutes. The cast had to run to get lunch because the lines were long.

Leonard Nimoy did not run very fast and usually was one of the last people to get there and sometimes even missed lunch.. Because of this, he decided to bring his bike and ride it to lunch.

Hear’s a great video of Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner telling the bike story at a Star Trek Convention.

This looks very spontaneous and not rehearsed. This perfectly illustrates the chemistry between the two actors and one of the main reasons why Star Trek: The Original Series was such a great show.
