Recipe description
This candy modeling clay recipe is good to make figures for cakes. I used it to make star wars mini figures for the star wars cake that my daughter and I made for my son for his birthday.
Tools Needed
1/3 teaspoon measuring spoon
1 teaspoon measuring spoon
Large bowl

Spice / sugar/flour section
2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
Crisco
Specialty Cake store items
1 teaspoon Gum tex powder
1/3 teaspoon Powdered Egg White

500 grams of rolled white fondant – from rolled fondant recipe
shortening or oil spray
Measure out 1/3 teaspoon Powdered Egg White. Fill the 1/3 teaspoon measuring spoon. Scrape off any excess to make it level with the measuring spoon. Place it into a large bowl.
Measure out 2 teaspoons Cream of Tartar. Fill the 1 teaspoon measuring spoon. Scrape off any excess to make it level with the measuring spoon. Place it into the large bowl with the powdered egg white. Repeat to measure the second teaspoon.
Measure out the 1 teaspoon Gum tex powder. Fill the 1 teaspoon measuring spoon. Scrape off any excess to make it level with the measuring spoon. Place it into the large bowl with the powdered egg white.
Use a scale to measure out 500 grams of rolled white fondant. Add the fondant to the bowl.
Mix all of the other ingredients into the fondant. Knead it all together. To knead the fondant, push down on it then turn it over to the right 90 degrees and push down on it again. Do this until you have rotated it four times. Then take the sides and fold them over into the middle. Then fold it up 180 degrees. Then switch back over to pushing down on it. Continue to alternate pushing down and rotating it until it is all mixed together. If the mixture starts to stick to your hands, apply shortening or oil spray as needed.
The candy modeling clay should be slightly shiny and pliable and malleable like clay when it is done, and not sticky. This may take several minutes of kneading to mix all of the ingredients into the candy modeling clay. Once everything is well mixed. Wrap it in several layers of plastic wrap until you need to use it. Make sure no air can get to it or it will dry out and be no good. Once wrapped in plastic wrap, place into a gallon zip top bag and seal the bag.
Take out only as much as you need at one time.
I used it to make Star Wars Death Star miniature figures.
