On some of my cakes, I sculpt Rice Krispies Treats. For example, the pictures above are the Millenium Falcon and an Imperial Shuttle. Both of these ships are from my LEGO Star Wars Death Star Cake.
This recipe for Rice Krispies Treats comes directly from the recipe on the Rice Krispies box. Kellogg’s recipe calls for pouring the hot mixture into a pan. I pour them onto parchment paper and shape them.

Use table knife or butter knife to cut 3 tablespoons of butter from a stick of butter. The tablespoon marks are on the package for the stick of butter. I always use real butter instead of margarine because I think it tastes better with real butter. Alternately weigh out 1.5 ounces of butter. Place the butter into the large boiler.
If using large marshmallows, no measuring is necessary. Just use the entire 10 ounce bag. If using small marshmallows, weigh out 10 ounces, because small marshmallows come in a 10.5 ounce bag. Place the marshmallows into a medium bowl.
If just making these for eating and not to make shapes, add about 10 small marshmallows or about 3 large marshmallows to give it a more marshmallow taste. Do not do this if you are making shapes.
Measure out 6 cups of rice krispies and place into a large bowl. The rice krispies should look level with the top of the cup, not mounded over the cup, or you will have too many rice crispies.
Mix ingredients to make rice krispy treats.
Ingredients needed
3 tablespoons or 1.5 ounces Butter
10 ounces Marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispies
Wooden spoon
Large boiler
Parchment paper
Heat the large boiler with the butter inside on low heat until the butter is melted. As soon as the butter melts, pour in the 10 ounces Marshmallows and stir with a wooden spoon until the marshmallows are completely melted.
As soon as the marshmallows are completely melted, remove from heat, and add the 6 cups Rice Krispies and stir until the marshmallows and Rice Krispies are well mixed.
If making shapes, pour the rice krispy treats into a large mound onto a sheet of parchment paper. The large mound will keep them from cooling too fast.
If just making rice krispy treats to eat, pour into a pan coated with cooking spray and spread out to cover 8 by 8 by 2 inch pan.
