The amazingly talented Jean Schapowal made this awesome cake for last years Threadcakes competition. It does a wonderful job of blending Star Wars, Gremlins, and the Victorian Era.
Here’s what Jean had to say about this cake – “I couldn’t wait for this years Threadless contest. Being a huge Star Wars geek I fell in love with this design!! I started by baking 3, 8″ round yellow and chocolate cakes. These would become the Ewok and Yoda. After carving and crumbcoating the bodies I started working on the heads. Both heads were sculpted out of rice krispy treats, fondant, and modeling chocolate. Their ears, head pieces, hats, pipe, and umbrella are also sculpted out of rice krispy treats. Each figure was assembled and finsihed seperately. I had mounted each cake onto a 1/2″ piece of foamcore which I would later join together to create the family portrait. Once the Ewok and Yoda were completed it was time to work on Gizmo. he was made entirely out of rice krispy treats and fondant. His ears and hat were also made in fondant. He then was attached to the board and it brought the whole piece together. After all was said and done it wound up being alot larger than I thought !! My son who is also a huge Star Wars fan said it was his fav cake ever!!”
Jean also made these amazing cakes featuring Yoda, Mars Attacks, and Lost In Space.
