This Fabulous Tim Burton Style Dumbo Cake was made by Rita Cannova from Le Torte di Clari. Dumbo looks a lot like Sparky from the movie Frankenweenie.
This Fabulous Dumbo Cake was made for the Disney Deviant Sugar Art A Worldwide Collaboration which is a cake collaboration where cake artists put their own spin on Disney characters.
Here is Rita’s description of this Wonderful cake:
For this cake I took inspiration from one of my favorite film director: Tim Burton. I love his gothic world and I love his gothic characters because even in a seemingly dark world, in a world of (cheerful) death they maintain their sweetness, their tenderness, their soul; we can find all this things even in Sparky, a dog that recurs in more than a movie. That’s why I choose one of the most tender disney character, Dumbo, and I wonder how it would have been if Tim Burton had directed this animation movie. So I imagined Dumbo redesigned by this eccentric director; Dumbo restyled as Sparky, with some of the most peculiar features of Tim Burton characters, but not forgetting the importance of the setting features too, which gives the trademark to Tim Burton movies. This cake is my answer to this strange contamination: Dumbo as Sparky, that is to say, Dumbo deviated in a Tim Burton way. I used model Laped sugar paste and the Innovative sugarshapers of Innovative sugarworksco. All colors are Rainbow Dust Colors and Progel Renshaw
