Yosemite Sam Cake
This gorgeous Yosemite Sam Cake was made by Ennas’ Cake Design.
“That’s right, Yosemite Sam … The roughest, toughest, hombre that ever locked horns with a rabbit”
“I’m a-sailin’ with the tide, or my name ain’t Shanghai Sam … and it is”
Irina’s Yosemite Sam is wonderful. He is standing in front of the swinging doors of a saloon. Since Sam is so short, only Sam’s hat is above the swinging doors. I love that his moustache is as tall as him and that he has his six shooters out.
Elmer Fudd has some classic moments, especially when hunting both Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. But, I’ve always preferred Yosemite Sam over Elmer. Sam is the perfect foil for Bugs. He is all bluster and no brains. Plus, Sam was constantly playing roles other than the classic western outlaw. Sam was everything from a knight in shinning armor to a Hessian soldiers and it always worked because no matter how he was dressed, he was always acted and spoke the same.
“I’m no doc, ya flea-bitten varmint … I’m Riff-Raff Sam … the riffiest riff that ever riffed a raff!
As much as I love Irina’s Yosemite Sam, the bottom layer is my favorite part of this cake. I love the design of this layer. Irena uses both hand painting and layer fondant cut outs to make a gorgeous 3-d western scene. The very back is blue sky with white clouds. Just in front of that are some gorgeous multicolored mesas, in front of the mesas are hills of sand and cactuses. Even the cake board looks like desert stone. The scene is so perfect, I expect John Wayne to ride by any moment.
“Who am I? I’m Sam Von Schmamm the Hessian … that’s who I am”
The back of the cake is just a gorgeous. I like this photo because it gives you a better view of the saloon without Yosemite Sam hogging the view. You can actually see the wooden boards that make up the saloon. It has wooden windows and a swinging door. I’m not sure I’d want to visit this saloon because it serves riff-raff like Sam. Forget Mos Eisley, I think you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy than at this saloon.
“Yeah, Chilikoot Sam … The roughest, toughest, rootinest, shootinest claim-jumper that ever jumped a claim”
