Stingray Cake with Troy Tempest

The cake and cake board look like the ocean floor which a 2-D Stringray is exploring. The cake is topped with a near perfect Troy Tempest figure.
Stingray Cake

I’m a Stingray fan, so when I saw this 23 birthday cake, I couldn’t wait to share it. This awesome Stingray cake was made by Sweet Catering. This cool cake is divided into two parts.

The cake is a single tier. It was covered in fondant and airbrushed ocean blue. Then, they made a terrific 2-D Stingray and attached it to the cake. The cake board was decorated to look like the ocean floor. It has rocks and different sea plants. All these elements combine to make it look like Stingray is underwater and exploring the ocean floor. In the front of the cake board is the logo for Stingray.

The second half of the cake is the fantastic Troy Tempest cake topper. Troy is dressed in his W.A.S.P. uniform. He is sitting on top of the cake. Next to him is the number 23 and the birthday name. The cake topper of Stingray’s captain looks just like the marionette. I can’t decide which I like more: the amazing sculpting on Troy’s face or the attention to detail on the uniform.

This is the prefect time for a Stingray cake, because Anderson Entertainment is just wrapping up their year long celebration of Stingray’s 60th anniversary. During this celebration Anderson Entertainment has released books, audiobooks, comics book collections including both new and old stories and best of all a live Stingray performance, Deadly Concerto, at the concert Stand by for Action 2!.

Stingray was one of Gerry Anderson’s programs that mixed elaborate vehicles that were detailed models with characters that were marionettes. This process was called
Supermarionation.

Here is Wikipedia’s terrific summary of the series:

“Set in the 2060s, the series follows the exploits of the World Aquanaut Security Patrol (WASP), an organization responsible for policing the Earth’s oceans. The WASP’s flagship is Stingray, a combat submarine crewed by Captain Troy Tempest, navigator Lieutenant “Phones” and Marina, a mute young woman from under the sea. Stingray’s adventures bring it into contact with various underwater civilisations, some friendly and others hostile, as well as strange natural phenomena.”

Stay on this channel because I plan to feature more awesome Gerry Anderson treats in the near future.
