Happy Pie Day! I thought today was the perfect day to feature one of my favorite edible artforms – decorated pies.
This stunning Waiting for Peter Pan Pie was made by Inspired To Taste. It features Wendy Darling sitting by an open window looking at London at night. You can see Big Ben in the distance and the moon in the sky. The shadow of Peter Pan is flight in the night sky. The star filled night sky is reminiscent of Vincent van Gogh’s Starry Night.
This masterpiece was made by Inspired To Taste.
Here is Liz’s description of this pie.
This pie has a blueberry filling in a lemon-almond cookie crust. Almost all the colors used in this design are from @thesugarart. I sparkled the sky with a combo of @bakerybling and Diamond Dust, and we now carry these gold star sprinkles in our shop ⭐️. Most of the elements on this pie are painted directly onto the cookies. Wendy’s dress and hair are marshmallow fondant, the window panes are @simicakes1 isomalt, and the window seat cushion and window molding details are royal icing.

Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin, from Pies Are Awesome, made this amazing Monster At The End Of The Book Pie.
If you’re not familiar with it, The Monster At The End Of The Books, is a classic picture book staring Grover from Sesame Street. When our kids were little, I read this book to them hundreds of times and it always brought a big smile to my face. The story is simple (don’t worry, I won’t spoil the ending). On the first page, Grover warns that there is a monster at the end of the book and that the reader shouldn’t go any further. The rest of the book is Grover trying to persuade and prevent the reader from getting to the end of the book.
Jessica’s pie is from one of the storybook pages. By turning the page, you’ve just made a big hole in the brick wall Grover made. Grover is standing, holding ropes and yelling in despair “You Turned Another Page!”. Like the book, this pie makes me grin from ear to ear.
Jessica’s staging of this photograph is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever posted an item on this blog where the background was hammers and nails, but it is perfect since Grove keeps building things to prevent the reader from getting to the end of the book.

This Tweety Bird Pie made by Inspired To Taste. It is too pretty to eat! The top crust of the pie has been designed to look like a golden bird cage. It even has the circle at the top to hang the bird cage from. The outside of the base of the cage is ornate. Tweety is in the cage. You can’t see Sylvester, but his two claws are reaching around the bird cage.
There are three things that make is pie absolutely gorgeous.
The detail is amazing. Just look at the cage. The bars are curved and look golden. There is a pattern at the top. Tweety looks like he flew out of a Looney Tunes cartoon.
The use of texture is wonderful. Tweety and Sylvester look 2-D and are bright and colorful. The pie filling is swirled and makes a wonderful back drop for Tweety. The cage looks golden and has intricate patterns on it. All these different textures make Tweety and Sylvester really stand out.
Lastly, the pie looks 3-D. Tweety is literally inside the cage. The bars of the cage bend so they look 3-D. Sylvester’s claws are on top of the cage bars. Liz’s brilliant use of layers makes the overall image look 3-D.
The pie is crust was a buttery pâte sucrée. The filling was tart lemon curd and sweet-and-silky Italian meringue.

This Jack Skellington Pie is a chocolate cream pie with caramelized cocoa nibs on a crispy cocoa pastry shell., A white chocolate dome is in shape of Jack’s head is on top of the pie.
This wonderful pie was made by Vincent Guerlais.
I love chocolate and this Nightmare Before Christmas pie looks delicious.

Here’s a white chocolate version with a Jack-o-Lantern face.

And last, but not least this is a carved pumpkin witch chocolate pie. I love the way the hat and jacket are made from textured chocolate. If you look through the orange pumpkin head, you can see the chocolate cream pie.

Does Kiki deliver pies? This gorgeous Kiki’s Delivery Service pie was created by Inspired To Taste. Liz created this for HBO Max.
This magical pie features a side view of Kiki. Her cat, Jiji, is looking out from the other side of the pie. The fruit filling is designed to look like a purple sky and there are stars in the sky. There are two blackbirds at the top of the pie. The bottom of the pie is Kiki’s broom and in an absolutely brilliant design choice the handle of the broom curves so that it is the side of the crust for a third of the pie.
This pie has blackberry filling in a mostly chocolate-almond cookie crust.

Wow! This amazing Spider-Man Pie was made by Jessica Leigh Clark-Bojin from Pies Are Awesome. It features Spider-Man swinging towards you. Behind him is a cityscape.
I’m a fan of Jessica’s work and have made two Star Trek: The Next Generation Pies after studying her videos. My designs were made by carving the top crusts before I baked them. While I was really happy with the results, they don’t hold a candle to Jessica’s work.
The reason I love Jessica’s work is because she does so much more with her pie. Every part of the pie is a key piece in the finished artwork. The detail and color on Spider-Man is amazing. She framed the cityscape with sprinkled brown sugar and it looks great. The sun shinning down on the cityscape is made from individual rows of two different fruit filling. The way she mixes pie crust, filling and brown sugar to make a piece of art is simply stunning!

This wicked Ursula Pie was created by Inspired To Taste. It features Ursula, Flotsam and Jetsam. I really like the design of this pie. Ursula has her back to us and her hands raised so it looks like she is casting a spell. Her tentacles cover the edge of two thirds of the pie and the detail on them is amazing. The very top of the pie edge has Flotsam and Jetsam on it. At the bottom of the pie, the crust sticks out past Ursula and has been modeled to look like starfish and conch shells. Ursula’s primary colors are black and a pinkish purple, so using a blackberry / blueberry filling is the perfect choice to work with these colors. This is without a doubt the finest pie under the sea!
Here is Liz’s description of this stunning pie:
This #seawitch pie has a spiced vegan cookie crust with blackberry/blueberry filling. The entire thing is low-carb, reduced-sugar, mostly vegan, and pretty damn healthy for a sinful-themed dessert. I used @lakantosweetener in place of sugar and @mammachia to thicken the filling. Topping details are painted with a combo of @sweetsticksau’s #edibleartpaint and @poppypaints, and I added edible glitter to the filling with @bakerybling.
