Spider-Gwen 7th Birthday Cake

Spider-Gwen 7th Birthday Cake

This spectacular Spider-Gwen 7th Birthday Cake was made by Cake-A-Doodle By Nimitha Moideen. It features Spider-Gwen standing in front of a spider web with a cityscape above her.

Spider-Gwen’s costume is really complex. If she had been created during the Silver or Bronze Age of comics, her costume would have been redesigned because printing back then couldn’t have created the pink and purple design inside her cowl and on her arms. Nimitha does an amazing job recreating this extremely difficult costume.

The use of color on this cake is terrific. Gwen’s costume has four colors – white, black, pink, and purple. The cake behind Gwen is pink with a large spider web, while the cityscape above her is purple. This draws out these two colors in Gwen’s costume.

Here is Cinzia’s bio:

My name is Cinzia D’Adamo. I am 44 years old and live in the province of Rome. I started my path between vanilla, sugar and flower several years ago, until I came across the cake design, a world completely unknown to me but which has aroused great interest. I am self taught learning from the various techniques originally Anglo-Saxon and have exceeded by attending courses held by Cake designers of which I have great esteem. The desire to get involved has pushed me over the years to take part in more or less important competitions until last year for the first time at Sigep obtaining the First Prize at the Aesthetic Gicakes 2015 and a recent recognition with Gold Award in the International Class at Cake International in Birmingham.
My work has been published in American Cake Decoration.

I wanted to represent Mary Jane Watson because I wanted to highlight one of the characters of Marvel Comic forced to a secondary role. From friend and confidant later companion of Peter Park alias Spider-Man, a loyal woman whose trust and who kept his secret.

Spider-Gwen Cake

Spider-Gwen Cake

Wow! This absolutely stunning Spider-Gwen Cake was made by Claudia Benevento from La torta perfetta.  Claudia made this cake for Cake Con International.  Cake Con international is a collaboration featuring amazing worldwide artists who have created cakes and sugar art inspired by TV series, comics & video game characters.

Since Spider-Gwen is one of Marvel Comics newer characters, here is Claudia’s explanation of who Spider-Gwen is:

Gwen Stacy, sweet blonde girl with her famous hairband, she’s known as Peter Parker’s girlfriend killed at the end of a tragic battle between Spider-Man and Goblin. After her death she became a key player in the life of Spider-Man, representing in fact the end of his innocence. But in an alternative land the stories of Gwen Stacy tell of a modern days lively girl who, during a school trip, was bitten by a radioactive spider which gives her extraordinary powers. From then on the girl decides to play the role of the super heroine calling herself Spider Woman while Peter Parker in this different reality, without spider powers, continues to be scoffed by bullies of the school. Tired of the situation, Peter decides to inject himself the lizard serum, becoming this way the Lizard of this universe, but blinded by anger, he clashes with his friend heroine and dies in the battle. The crushing sense of guilt drives Gwen Stacy away from her father, police captain in New York, from her friends and the real world. She hides behind a mask and pushes herself to use her powers to become a real heroine.

Side View of Spider-Gwen Cake

Gwen’s costume is perfect and her face is beautiful, but I think my favorite part is her hair.  I really like how it looks tousled and wind blown.
