These Splendid Fantasia Cupcakes were made by Art Cup Cupcakes.
Walt Disney produced Fantasia in 1940. It had eight animated parts that were set to classical music pieces. The music was conducted by Leopold Stokowski.
These Disney cupcakes were based on two musical pieces in Fantasia called The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Dance of the Hours.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice starred Mickey Mouse. Mickey was the apprentice of a sorcerer named Yen Sid. Mickey takes the Sorcerer’s hat and tries to perform magic, but he does not know how to control the magic correctly so chaos ensues. The Cupcake with the blue Sorcerer’s Hat and the cupcake with the broom and water bucket are from The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
Dance of the Hours was a comic ballet composed of four pieces. Madame Upanova and her ostriches that represent Morning, Hyacinth Hippo and her servants that represent Afternoon, Elephantine and her elephant troupe that represent Evening, and Ben Ali Gator and his alligators that represent Night. At the end all are dancing together until their palace collapses. The Cupcake with the Hippo and the Cupcake with the Ostrich are from Dance of the Hours.
Over one thousand people participated in the making of Fantasia and Fantasia had over five hundred animated characters.
These Disney cupcakes were made for A Step Back In Time Cupcake Collaboration where cupcakes artists created miniature works of art based on a Disney classic animated movie.
