The author that is synonymous with Christmas for me is Hans Christian Andersen. The story of The Steadfast Tin Soldier is one that is often told at this time of year, in plays and ballets and is a tale of a tin soldier’s love for a paper ballerina. He was the last of the set to be made and as such there was not enough tin to cast his leg – he spies the ballerina also on one leg and falls in love. I chose to represent the toy figurines on a Christmas drum, decorated with pines and berries.
