This spooktacular Lonesome Ghosts Pumpkin Carving was created by Pop Culture Pumpkins. The pumpkin features Mickey, Donald, Goofy and four lonesome ghosts.
Lonesome Ghosts is a classic cartoon from 1937. It was released on Christmas Eve, three days after the release of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. In this cartoon, Mickey, Donald and Goofy have formed the Ajax Ghost Exterminators. They get a call to investigate a haunted house. Little do Mickey and friends know that the call was from some ghosts who are lonesome and looking to have some fun. When Mickey, Donald and Goofy arrive at the house, the ghosts have fun scaring them. Mickey, Donald and Goofy separate and each has a segment where they try unsuccessfully to capture a ghost. At the end of the cartoon, they end up in the kitchen and get completely covered in flour and molasses. The ghosts see this spooky, moving mess and are so scared they feel the house.
If you’ve never seen this cartoon, it is on Disney+ and is a lot of fun.
Pop Culture Pumpkins did an amazing job recreating this cartoon. The lonesome ghosts look perfect. They have their extremely expressive faces with a large mouth, eyes and nose. They are wearing blower hats and they have a clasp holding their capes together.
At the same time, Mickey, Donald and Goofy have an odd assortment of gear for exterminating ghosts. Goofy has a harpoon and rope. Donald has a net. Mickey is wearing a deerstalkers cap. He has a magnifying glass and a rope. Needless to say, none of these tool work on ghosts.
This pumpkin makes me smile and makes me want to rewatch Lonesome Ghosts.
