Honey Bee Cookies Made Using Cookie Stamps

Bee Cookies Made with cookie stamps

These Honey Bee cookies made using cookie stamps were hand-painted painted with gold and silver edible paints. These include a bee, a daisy, and a honeycomb pattern. I used Lila Loa’s vanilla sugar cookie recipe and chilled the dough. These cookies were made using the Nordicware Honeybee cookie stamps.  I painted them with silver and gold luster dust because I wanted them to have an elegant but rustic look.

Here’s the steps I used to make the cookies. First use a pastry brush to lightly brush canola oil onto each cookie stamp.  Next make a 69 gram ball of cookie dough. Then chill the dough so that it is a little bit firm and not at all sticky but still fairly malleable. If it’s too firm the stamp will not press down the dough. Dust the top of the ball with a small amount of flour so it is not shiny. Wipe off any excess flour. Then roll the press over it to create a cookie pattern. Try to put equal pressure so that the cookie is even thickness.  After that use a round cookie cutter to cut off the cookie excess and make smooth neat edges.  The resulting cookie will be a little over 1/4 inch thick.

Bake the cookies at (340 degrees convection oven) or 365 degrees regular oven until bottoms are slightly brown and until they go from a slight glossy appearance to a matte appearance.  It should be  around 13-16 minutes. Once the cookies cool, use edible silver and gold mixed with a little bit of golden grain alcohol to paint the cookies.  Package them in clear cellophane cookie bags.
