Great Green Lantern 35th Birthday Cake

Green Lantern 35th Birthday Cake

This cool Green Lantern 35th Birthday Cake was made by Erivana Cakes.  Erivana Cakes is located in St John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.

Today’s post is a part of the Green Lantern 75th Birthday Party.  The original Green Lantern (Alan Scott) first appeared 75 years ago this summer.  So during June and July, I’ll be spotlighting some sweet Green Lantern treats.  Other blogs joining in the party are Flodo’s Page, Blog of Oa, The Lanterncast, Green Blogger’s Site, and The Brighest Day, The Blackest Night.  If you’re a fan of Green Lantern, please check them out.

Green Lantern Movie Poster

This wonderful birthday cake is based on the 2011 Green Lantern movie.  A cool poster for the movie is above.  The cake features Green Lantern’s Power Battery, his ring, and his glove from the movie.  My favorite part of the cake is the power battery.  The green, dark green, and black color scheme of the power battery really stands out against Green Lantern’s glove and ring.  If Ini had used the classic power battery, there wouldn’t have been anything to contrast the green with.  Because of that, using the multi-colored power battery works really well here.

Which power battery do you prefer – the classic or the movie version?

Classic Green Lantern Power BatteryMovie Version of Green Lantern Power Battery

This model of the classic Green Lantern battery is sold by Amazon, while the model of the movie version is much harder to find.  I would be hard pressed to choose which I prefer.  I really like the sleek metallic look of the classic power battery, but the one problem I have with it is that it is one shade of green.  I like how the movie version of the power battery uses various shades of green and is translucent in parts.  You can tell instantly that it is a power battery, but it looks very different then the classic version.

Watch Out! Larfleeze Is Stealing This Geektastic Green Lantern Wedding Cake!

Tyne Delwiche makes amazing Cake Toppers for the world famous Carlo’s Bake Shop (home of Buddy, the Cake Boss).  Tyne has posted some of these stunning sculptures on her blog.  Today, I’m spotlighting a Green Lantern Wedding Cake that she created the figure for.

This cake features three popular characters from Green Lantern – Green Lantern (the groom), Star Sapphire (the bride), and Larfleeze (who appears to be stealing the cake).  In the comics, each ring color represents a different emotion.  Green is willpower. Violet is love.  Orange is avarice.  So, it is both fitting and hilarious that Larfleeze, the orange lantern, is trying to steal the cake.  I guess this is one case where Larfleeze takes the cake!

Star Sapphire Wedding Cake Topper

The bride is dressed as Star Sapphire.  She is wearing a skin tight outfit with gloves, boots and a white collar.  She has Star Sapphire’s headdress with a bride’s veil added to it.  Beside Star Sapphire is Larfleeze.  The sculpting on his face is wonderful.

I think it is so cool that Green Lantern’s face is sculptured to looks like the groom.  Notice Green Lantern is wearing a bowtie.  I’ve never seen a formal Green Lantern uniform before, but it is a cool idea.

The topper is based on the cover of Green Lantern #18.

Green Lantern’s Light Shines On This Birthday Cake

Green Lantern Cake

Jo Takes The Cake made this Green Lantern Cake for Chloe, a green lantern fan, who was turning 6.  Chloe had a green and black Green Lantern dress with the green lantern symbol in the middle.  So, Jo designed this cake to match the dress.

On top of this cake are Green Lantern’s Mask and his power ring.  The birthday girl’s name is on the cake beside them.

The side of the cake is black and green just like the front of Green Lantern’s costume.  The green part of the costume is ribbed to match the dress.  In the center of the textured green background is a white circle with the Green Lantern Symbol. Inside it is Chloe’s age.

To match the dress, the cake board is covered in green cloth and has a black bow that surrounds the cake.

Great Green Lantern Cookies

Green Lantern Cookies

These cool Green Lantern Cookies were made by Firefly Confections.  Firefly Confections makes some of the coolest geek cookies I’ve ever seen.

If these are Green Lantern Cookies, why are there so many different colored rings? For years, the Green Lantern Corps had green rings and Sinestro, the renegade Green Lantern, had a yellow ring.  When Geoff Johns revitalized Green Lantern a few years ago, he created a whole series of power rings.  In addition to Green there is Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Black, and White.  Each ring color is power by a particular emotion. Green = Willpower, Red = Rage, Orange = Avarice, Blue = Hope, Indigo = Compassion, Violet = Love, Black = Death, and White = Life.
