Artist’s description of this piece:

My inspiration is the three movies that I loved when I was a child, about a beautiful Totoro, God of nature, some PomPokos who defended their home in nature and a great pilot who turned into a pig man, called Porco Rosso.
Wonderful works that today inspire me to create with imagination.

This wonderful cake was made by Chrissy Askew from AsQ Cakes.

Artist’s description of this piece:

I am a huge fan of Hayao Miyazaki’s work! I jumped at the chance to be a part of this collaboration! With it being character based I wanted to incorporate many of my favorite characters and also pay tribute to their creator hence where the idea to have them all peering through Hayao’s glasses came from, almost watching themselves be created!

Artist’s description of this Catbus cake:
The Catbus, is a character in the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro. It is a large grinning, twelve-legged cat with a hollow body that serves as a bus, complete with windows and seats covered with fur, and a large, bushy tail. Catbus is believed to be based on the Japanese bakeneko (“changed cat”), an ancient urban legend where cats that grow old learn to shape-shift.
Being that Im a huge cat lover, he is one of my all time favorite character from Ghibli Studios!!

Fabulous Totoro Cake

Totoro Cake

This Fabulous Totoro Cake was made by Buns In The Oven Cupcakery. Totoro and his friends are from the movie My Neighbor Totoro. Totoro and his friends are friendly woods spirits that two Japanese girls encounter in rural Japan.

The large gray Totoro has many smaller Totoros riding a green leaf that is balanced on top of his head. The bamboo he is holding in his hand as a staff looks almost like a large piece of white broccoli.

Totoro was made using cake. Totoro’s friends that are riding on the green leaf were made using sugar paste.

Amazing My Neighbor Totoro Easter Egg

My Neighbor Totoro Easter Egg

Wow! This absolutely wonderful My Neighbor Totoro Easter Egg was made by Roberth Fearon on Deviant Art.  The detail on Totoro is terrific.  Totoro has grey skin except for his belly which is yellow.  He has small brown eyes, a small black nose, whiskers, and a large mouth.  His belly is yellow with patches of grey at the top.  His arms and feet have claws.  I really like how Roberth uses paper to make Totoro’s ears and the leaf that is on his head.  Photographing this gorgeous Easter Egg was a really nice touch.  The egg looks terrific in this setting.
