Stunning Stained Glass Cross Cake

Elaborate Cakes made this stunning Stained Glass Cross Cake for the Easter Coloring Book Cake Collaboration, an international sugar collaboration featuring both religious and secular Easter coloring book themed cakes by 23 designers from all over the world.  Elaborate Cakes is located in Tilton, Illinois.  The Easter Coloring Book Cake Collaboration can be found on the web and on Facebook.

This cake is absolutely gorgeous! It was 22 inches tall, 18 inches wide, and 4 inches deep.  The stained effect is terrific.  I really like how the “pieces of glass” are irregular shaped.  It makes the stained glass stand out more.  I also really like the fact that the stained glass is purple, because it is one of the traditional colors of Lent and Easter. 

The imagery of the white cross with the red rose reminds me of an old song by Michael Card, Love Crucified Arose.  Here is part of the lyrics:
