Gorgeous Downton Abbey Cookie Featuring Matthew and Mary

This terrific cookie of Matthew and Mary was made for the Downton Abbey Themed Cake Collaboration – A Sweet Farewell To Downton.

This gorgeous cookie was made by Brittani Diehl from Layde Cakes.

Here is Brittani’s bio:

My name is Brittani Diehl and I am 24 years of artistic nonsense. I am from a small town called Hollister, CA (no not the clothing store 😉 between San Jose and Monterey Bay). I began caking when I was 15, and have been loving it ever since.  Using my nickname, Layde, I began Layde Cakes on Facebook in 2011.

Here is Brittani’s description of her terrific cookie:

My heart broke during the Season 3 finale when Matthew was killed.  I wanted to capture the one special, innocent moment before everything went wrong. Mary, Matthew, and little George together really touched me and I wanted to immortalize the moment in sugar. I decided to hand paint the scene on a jumbo cookie using gel food coloring and Everclear.  As an added touch, I created a gold frame out of fondant that I brushed with some luster dust for extra shine.
