This Marvelous Vintage Coppertone Advertisement Cake was made for the Sweet Summer Collaboration which is a cake collaboration of more than 200 Cake Artists from around the world to celebrate summer in the sweetest way.

This is my third year as a hobby cake designer/decorator. I have always been involved with art in one form or another and cake designing is my retirement hobby and my new passion.

Here is Sandra’s description of her Fabulous cake:

When I was in my teens, I was a life guard in the summers, so every day started with suntan lotion. The very smell of Coppertone brings me to a place of hot sun, cool water and lazy summer days. I chose as my inspiration to replicate the original Coppertone advertisement. Both the little girl and the dog are made of modeling chocolate supported by a wire armature. The swim suit and hair ribbons are made of gum paste, the shells are made of modeling chocolate and the sand is whole grain rye flour.
