This Marvelous Mary Katherine of Epic Cake was made for the Inspired By William Joyce Collaboration which is a cake collaboration based on the work of American author, illustrator, and movie director, William Joyce. William Joyce has written over fifty children’s books such as George Shrinks, Dinosaur Bob and his Adventures with the Family Lazardo, Rolie Polie Olie, The Leaf Men and the Brave Good Bugs, The Numberlys, A Day with Wilbur Robinson, and Jack Frost. His works have been on the silver screen and in video games in Robots, Numberlys, The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore, Epic, Rise of the Guardians, and Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story and A Bug’s Life.
Heather McGrath, the person responsible for this wonderful collaboration, loves reading books to her children. Many of her favorite books that feature amazing worlds, creatures, and adventures, were created by the amazing William Joyce. She would revel in the visual stimulation of each of his books. Every page inspires her own creative synapses, telling her to go create! She found other bakers who were as inspired by William Joyce’s work as she. Thus is the origin of all of these wonderful edible William Joyce inspired creations.

Here is Bouchra’s bio:
An IT engineer and mum of four adorable kids, from Paris, France, Bouchra Marir had her first contact with cake decorating when she wanted to make the children’s birthday cakes. She has no formal training, is a self-taught artist and a great admirer of art and cake design. Two years ago she decided to create her page where she started to post pictures of her cakes. Soon, she was participating in different events, including the first France Cake Designer Championship, where she received the silver medal. She was also honoured to represent her country in the Cake Designers World Championship which was held in Milano, October 2015.
Bouchra was never expecting nor dreaming that someday she would create cakes at the level of those once only contemplated and admired. She loves testing new techniques, choosing shapes and colors, and applying materials to each new challenge. Bouchra also finds encouragement to strive in achieving her best potential, to make people happy by creating cakes and figures.For me everything is allowed in cake design and Imagination has no limits.
Mary Katherine has been shrunk and finds herself in the world of the Leaf Men in Epic.
