One of the things that is becoming popular among cookie artists is elaborate 3-D framed cookies. For example, this stunning framed cookie looks like the Evil Witch is leaning through the window of the Seven Dwarves’ cottage and offering Snow White the poisoned apple. The detail on this cookies is mindboggling. It was made by Michelle Spring Queen. In addition to being an amazing cookie artist, Michelle is also the founder and CCO of the online cookie store – Cookie Queens.
The frame that surrounds this cookie is black. The shape of the frame is designed to look like a window frame. The top of the window frame is larger than the rest of the window and it has fancy scroll work. All four sides of the window frame have what looks like carved patterns in the wood. Behind the window is another cookie that is solid green. This is crucial because it gives you a surface to mount everything to and visually it helps makes the 3-D really pop because the back of the cookie really is behind the window frame.
While the window frame is wonderful. The Evil Witch is the star of this cookie. She is hunched over so that her her head and arms can fit in the window. She is wearing a black robe. Even though the window frame and the witch’s robe are both black, their textures are so different that they blend together. The witch has large eyes that look like they’re about to pop out of her head. She has a long thin nose with a wart on it. Her hands are boney and have long pointed red finger nails. In her right hand is an apple, “a magic wishing apple”.
This cookie is so stunning that I could not make a wish and take a bite!
