Gorgeous Rapunzel Picture Frame Cookie

This amazing cookie is a picture frame with Rapunzel inside it
Rapunzel Picture Frame Cookie

This absolutely lovely Rapunzel Picture Frame Cookie was made by Komachi Cookie. It is so pretty, I have a question – am I supposed to eat it or hang it on a wall?

Asuka specialty is intricate 3-D cookies. One of her favorite designs is picture frames with pop culture characters inside them. They’re designed so that you can put a picture frame holder on them and then display them on a table or mantle.

I chose to feature this cookie because it is actually two different designs at once. Obviously, it is a picture frame. But, it is also supposed to be an open window in the tower that Rapunzel is trapped in. That’s why Rapunzel is leaning on the frame and looking up and smiling.

The frame of this Rapunzel cookie looks so much like wood that you can see the woodgrain. The frame is decorated with beads and vines.

Obviously, Rapunzel is the focal point of the cookie. This is Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled. Her hair is amazing. Look at her hair on the left. Obvious, it starts at her head. It goes behind her ear. As soon as you pass her ear, you see all the hair behind her. As it gets near her elbow, it is so long that it wraps around her arm. It looks like her left hand may be holding it in place since it drapes over the window frame.

This is so hard to pull off. The hair starts in front of Rapunzel’s head. Then most of the hair is behind Rapunzel. Two thirds of the way down, the hair is so long, it covers her forearm and drapes over the window frame. Having the hair switch from front to back to front again makes the cookie looks so lifelike and 3-D. But, doing this without any seams showing or any tears is extremely difficult.

Asuka also does an terrific job giving Rapunzel texture. Rapunzel’s skin is smooth. Even though there is so much hair, you can see lines in the hair that look like individual strands of hair. Just like in real life, her clothes aren’t as smooth as her skin. Rapunzel’s outfit has puffy shoulders. You can see creases where the cloth pulls together because the arms aren’t puffy. If you look at the left arm, you can see creases where the end of the sleeve is.

The way the hair wraps around Rapunzel and the different textures of the wood, skin, clothes and hair really make this stand out. But, Asuka still has two more tricks up her sleeve. This cookie has wood grains, hair, skin tones and pink and purple cloth. These don’t go together. Asuka knows this and uses two tricks.

First, the hair and wood both are shades of brown and both have lines to show texture. So, those go together pretty well. Rapunzel’s face, neck and hand have shadows on them because she’s looking out a window. This gives parts of Rapunzel’s skin a tan. That tan color blends really well with the wood and frame.

Trick number two. There is still a problem. pink and purple don’t go well with browns and tans. Our eyes are so drawn to Rapunzel, the focal point of the cookie, that we forget that there are a bunch of other colors on this cookie. The frame represents the window in Rapunzel’s tower. So, just like in Tangled, the tower and therefore the window frame have vines growing on them. If you look closely among the green vines there are small flowers that are pink and larger flowers that are purple. They look like perfectly natural blooms on the vines. But, they serve a second purpose. These blooms’ colors blend perfectly with the pink and purple cloth. That bring it all together. What could have been a mixture of colors and textures that didn’t go together instead blend so well that the end results is an absolutely gorgeous cookie.

Cute Winnie The Pooh Ferris Wheel Cookie

This cute Ferris Wheel Cookie features Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit and Roo. Pooh isn’t riding the Ferris Wheel, he’s flying by on a balloon. Tigger is climbing down the Ferris Wheel because there is a beehive stuck on it. Little touches like these make this cookie so much fun.

Marvelous Charlie Brown Ferris Wheel Cookie

This cute Ferris Wheel Cookie has Charlie Brown and Schroeder on the grass in front of the Ferris wheel. Schroeder is playing Beethoven on his piano. Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Peppermint Patty, Marcy and Sally are all riding the Ferris Wheel.
