Gold Framed Disney Villains Portraits Cookies

Each of these nine Disney Villains Portraits Cookies features a different villain and has an intricate gold frame
Gold Framed Disney Villains Portraits Cookies

One thing I love about Disney animated movies is that they have great villains. These intricate gold framed Disney Villains portraits cookies were made by Hi Sweetie. They feature nine famous female villains.

Each cookie was made with color royal icing, so the characters have depth and texture. Then the fine details were hand painted on. In all nine cookies, the character has a different pose. If that wasn’t enough, each cookie is set within a cookie frame that has been airbrushed gold. The end result is some of the most wicked looking Disney Villains cookies around.

Each of these villains premiered in a full length animated motion picture. I’m only going to list the movie that the villain premiered in. For example, Lady Tremaine was in Cinderella, Cinderella II: Dreams Come True, Cinderella III: A Twist in Time and 2015’s live action Cinderella movie. Plus, she has been in cartoons, live action TV shows, video games and at the Disney Theme parks. That’s too long of a list, so I’ll give each villain’s name and the movie they premiered in. I’ll then talk about the cookie and any cool trivia about the character.

Starting at the top left the villains are:

Mother Gothel from Tangled – Mother Gothel has long black hair and is wearing a red dress. Mother Gothel is a unique among Disney villains because she convinces Rapunzel that she is her mother and that she looking out for Rapunzel because “Mother Knows Best”.

Ursula from The Little Mermaid – Ursula is a sea witch. She has the upper half of a woman and the bottom half of a squid. She can also take human form. When she is in human form, she takes the name Vanessa. Since the pictures in these cookies are close-ups, you can only see Ursula’s face, hair and shoulders. Her skin is purple and her hair is white.

The Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland – The Red Queen and most of the characters in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland are from Lewis Carroll classic novels – Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There. The Red Queen’s outfit is pretty obvious. Since she is a queen, she has crown. And, since she is the Red Queen, she is wearing red with black trim. She is meant to look like she came to life from a playing card. I really like the devious grin that she has on her cookie. The likeness is fantastic.

(Second Row) Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove – Yzma is without a doubt the most comical of the villains featured in these cookies. I really like that she is holding one of her many vials with a magical potion.  “Hey, I’ve been turned into a cow… can I go home?”  Yzma was voiced by Eartha Kit. Eartha is famous for the best know version of the classic Christmas song – “Santa Baby”. Eartha was also Catwoman in Batman ’66.

The Evil Queen from Snow White – The Evil Queen is without a doubt the most important Disney Villain. While Pete may be the first Disney villain to be featured regularly, the Evil Queen is still more important. Snow White was Disney’s first full length animated movie. If it had not been a success at the box office, I suspect that Disney would have stuck to only making short cartoons in the future. The Evil Queen, her transformation into the Wicked Witch and her poisoned magic wishing apple are key elements of the film and I think a part of the reason the film is so beloved. This cookie is a terrific likeness. It almost looks like we’re seeing her reflection in the Magic Mirror.

Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty – Speaking of box office success, did you know that when Sleeping Beauty was released, it bombed at the box office? It lost around 900,000 dollars in 1959. That doesn’t seem possible since the castle in Disneyland is Sleeping Beauty’s castle and Maleficent is probably Disney’s most popular villain. This cookie features Maleficent’s profile. This cookies are so cool, I would really have liked to have seen a second cookie featuring Maleficent in dragon form.

(Third Row) Lady Tremaine from Cinderella – Lady Tremaine is the most mild villain in this rogues’ gallery. She is a terrible step mother and won’t let Cinderella go to the ball. I really like how on her cookie she has her hand under her chin as if she is thinking devious thoughts.

Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians – This cookie is a wonderful close-up of Cruella. She has black and white hair and is wearing her fur coat. An interesting piece of trivia about 101 Dalmatians. After Disney lost so much money on Sleeping Beauty, Disney had to find a way to decrease the cost of making an animated movie. One thing they did is they began photocopying drawings. 101 Dalmatians was the first movie that Disney released where they used photocopiers in making the film.

Madame Medusa from The Rescuers. While I have featured the Rescuers on this blog, this is the first time I’ve featured Madame Medusa. I think this is the first cookie I’ve ever seen of her and it is terrific. This is probably my favorite cookie of the bunch because Medusa is holding the Devil’s Eye, the world’s largest diamond. I really like the greedy look on Medusa’s face.
