Ursula Cake

This wonderful Ursula Cake was made by Insia Baidi. Insia made this for the Cuties Disney Villain/Halloween Collaboration – An international sugar collaboration to celebrate those dastardly Disney Villains, at the most wicked time of the year!

I really like the unique design of this cake.  The cake is black and almost not even noticed when you look at this photo.  Your eyes are drawn to the Ursula on the front of the cake.  Ursula’s squid like tentacles even stretch out past the cake.  Making a cake where the cake is little more than a stand for the artwork is a really daring design and in this case it pays off.  This is such a stunning cake!

Ursula Cake

This Splendid Ursula Cake was made by Carla Puig from Carla Puig Sugar Atelier.  This is a new take on Ursula where the artist made her more human instead of half octopus and placed an octopus in her hair.

This Fabulous Ursula Cake was made for the Disney Deviant Sugar Art A Worldwide Collaboration which is a cake collaboration where cake artists put their own spin on Disney characters.

Ursula Cake

Here is Carla’s description of this Wonderful cake:

My piece is entire made with chocolate and it’s inspired by Ursula, the main antagonist of The Little Mermaid. In the movie, she is a villainous sea witch, half human, half octopus who tricks Ariel into trading her voice for a pair of human legs. For this occasion, I wanted to make her more human, while maintaining the character’s gaze, but with a fancy touch. The piece is 1 meter height.

Ursula Cake

This Magnificent Ursula Cake was made by Mike’s Amazing Cakes. Ursula has a big smile on her face like she has just outwitted another poor unfortunate soul.  She is wearing her necklace where Ariel’s voice was stored. She has black octopus tentacles. She has her white hair sticking straight up.  Her body language says that she is the most cunning villain around.

She has white hair that sticks straight up.  This sea witch has blue makeup around her eyes and dark purple makeup surrounding the inner blue makeup. There are light purple skin folds on each side of her nose. She has a single black mole on her cheek beside her red lips. She is wearing gold seashell earrings. The detail of this undersea Disney villain is amazing.

Her skin is light purple. The outer part of her body is black with black octopus tentacles. She has one hand on her hip and the other near the necklace. She is wearing red fingernail polish.

Ursula was designed to be a Cecaelia, a mixture of human and octopus. Ursula’s basic look was based on Divine, the Drag performer.  Her voice was designed by Pat Carroll to be part Shakespearean actress with flamboyance and theatricality and part con artist or grifter.
