This lovely Downton Abbey Cake based on Lady Rose’s Christmas Dress was made for the Downton Abbey Themed Cake Collaboration – A Sweet Farewell To Downton.
This lovely cake was made by Tanya Halas from Cake Heart.
Here is Tanya’s description of her beautiful cake:
My creation was inspired by a garment worn by Lady Rose Aldridge. The geometric pattern in olive on a champagne coloured base with marsala accents complimented each other so beautifully. I created stylized tulips in a marsala/maroon colour and curled the olive greenery to emulate the pin curls in Lady Rose’s hair; along with jewelled fondant bead work from her head piece. The base was ivory fondant with clear edible gelatine sparkles, outlined in a geometric chevron pattern in olive painted dragees. The rose embellishments and leaves were created with Patchwork Rose cutters. The bottom of Lady Rose’s gown were ruffles in a solid marsala colour. I used parrot tulip leaves on the bottom tier to resemble it.
