This Marvelous Downton Abbey Cake inspired by the Drawing Room at Downton Abbey was made for the Downton Abbey Themed Cake Collaboration – A Sweet Farewell To Downton.
This Marvelous cake was made by Bouchra Marir from Sweet Creations Cakes.
Here’s Bouchra’s bio:
My name is Bouchra Marir and I live in Paris in France. I am an IT engineer and mum of four adorable kids. I’m a self-taught artist and a great admirer of art and cake design. Two years ago I decided to create a Facebook page, “Sweet creations cakes”, where I started to put some pictures of my cakes. Since then, I have participated in different events and in the first France cake designer championship where I got the silver medal. I was privileged also to represent my country in cake designer world championship in Milano, Italy on October 2015.
I never expected nor dreamed that someday I could create cakes at the level of those I once only contemplated and admired. I love testing new techniques, choosing shapes and colors, and the challenge of applying materials and techniques to each cake project. I also love making people happy by making cakes and figures. That encourages me to strive to be my very best. I love making cakes because everything is allowed in cake design. Imagination has no limits.
Here’s Bouchra’s description of her Marvelous cake:
When I had been asked to join this amazing collaboration, I struggled with a dress design but I soon realized that it’s so far from what I was looking for.
I decided to do a tiered cake with the vintage decor in the green room. I wanted to recreate the stylish design of the drawing room at Downton Abbey. The colors, the architectural details, even the grand chandelier inspired my cake. It’s all there : damask wall covering, gold accents, beautiful curtains… The bottom tier shows the decorative moldings on the wall The middle one is an interpretation of the damask wall covering with the curtains. I wanted to add flowers. I also made wafer paper ranunculus with gold leaves for finishing the whole decor.
