I really like when someone carves a pumpkin and makes a 3-D sculpture out of it. I’ve also seen some amazingly detailed painted pumpkins. I even have some lined up for 2026’s Halloween season. So when I saw this gorgeous Kung Fu Panda pumpkin that is both carved and painted, I had to share it. This was carved by Brandy Davis.
Brandy along with Deane Arnold and Mike Brown hold the Guinness World Record for the largest pumpkin carving in the world. Brandi and illustrator Brittain C. Scott created the children’s book – The Peculiar Book of Pumpkin Poetry (Amazon affiliate link).
Brandy’s Kung Fu Panda really stands out since she mixed two different styles of pumpkin art. The carving of Po is stunning. He has ears on the top of his head. His eyes are inset into his face. His snout sticks out. Po has a nose and mouth. All of those features are fantastic. But, they’re not even my favorite part of the carving. Brandy used the texture of the pumpkin and added a ton of little line to Po, so that his face looks like it is covered in fur. This must have taken hours and it makes all the difference.
How do you make a carving this cool even better? You skillfully paint it. Po’s fur is painted white with black accents. His ears and the fur around his eyes are black. Brandy didn’t put fur lines on Po’s nose, so when she painted it, it looks like a real panda nose. There is also a finely carved mouth that is painted black. Lastly, Po’s eyes are green. Since they’re the only thing that isn’t white, orange or black, his eyes really stand out.
