This Magnificent Saruman Cake was made by Sondra Vicelich of Sweet Bites Cakes for the Cakes From Middle Earth Cake Collaboration. She really liked the deep voice of this Lord of the Rings character and decided to take on the challenge of making an edible three dimensional sculpture of him. She did a great job crafting the details of this sculpture: his facial features and his beard and hair. Saruman the White has his hand resting on a crystal ball that shows the Eye of Sauron. Fondant, royal icing, and wafer paper were used to make this Awesome edible artwork. The hair and beard were individual strands of royal icing piped onto the cake.

This Terrific Lord of the Rings Cake was made by Kim Donker of Caketin Love for the Cakes From Middle Earth Cake Collaboration. This Wonderful cake features four different hand-painted paintings based on the Lord of the Rings movies and a hand-crafted three dimensional mace of Sauron. The first painting is of three Ringwraiths aka Nazguls with swords in their hands. The second one is of the One Ring with its Elvish Rune inscription. The third one shows Gollum hiding behind some rocks, and the fourth is of the Eye of Sauron. Sauron’s Mace is on top of the cake with its handle sticking in a mound of boulders. The mace was made using a wooden dowel with gum paste blades. On the cake board is a hand-painted map of Middle Earth.
