Here is Louise’s description of her Splendid cake:

Before Jenny asked me to join this amazing group I hadn’t watched a lot of Downton Abbey, but once I started researching I got pulled into a world or incredible costumes, amazing textures and times gone by. I decided to go with the maids outfit with elements from the housekeeper as I had never done a fashion inspired creation before and I have never done just a black and white one either. I was drawn to the white lace on the aprons and the black lace on the house keeper. I wanted to see what I could create without jewels, beading and embellishment. I covered the top tier in black fondant and then completely in cake lace which was a first for me, but I love the way it turned out. I covered the bottom tier in pleats, trying to ensure it looked natural and flowing. The middle tier was the biggest challenge, taking as many elements of the white lace as I go to recreate the pattern and style. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jenny again for inviting me and allowing me to be apart of a truly incredible collaboration with such other amazing artists.
