This Hobbit Hole Sculpted Cake with Bilbo and Gandalf is made to look like Bag End and features fondant figures of Bilbo and Gandalf. I made this cake for a Lord of the Rings Baby Shower for my niece. She is a big fan of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The cake is a sculpted 9 by 13 inch cake covered in fondant. As inspiration for this cake, I used Little Cherry’s Hobbit Hole cake. Little Cherry also has a wonderful video tutorial on how to make a hobbit hole cake.

Here’s a close-up of Bilbo and Gandalf.
I added figures of Bilbo and Gandalf. Here are some pictures of Bilbo

Here’s also pictures of Gandalf.

I used a Dresden tool to make the hair for each figure and for Gandalf’s beard.

I also made modeling chocolate flower pots with maroon and yellow roses. Since it is a baby shower, I spelled out the word Baby on the left and the word Hobbit on the right I used Katy Sue Alpha Pots mould to make the pots. I painted the letters using edible gold paint.

Here’s another view of this scupted cake. I made the path stones using gray modeling chocolate. The made the green of the Shire, I made green fondant and the pressed a brand new silicone cleansing pad into it to make it look like grass. I used a similar technique with a Wilton 1C tip to make the bushes.
