I can’t make swiss rolls. Every time I try, when I go to roll them up, they crack. One of them fell apart so badly, I dumped it into a pie tin and served it as a yummy dump cake. So, when I saw these Disney Princess Swiss Rolls, I had to share them. They were made for a 4th birthday by Bakery House 101.
These are three swiss rolls placed side by side. All three are colored light pink.
The first roll features Snow White. There are six little apples around her. The apples have eyes and a mouth. Their stems look like the hair on the top of their head.
Ariel is in mermaid form. She has a lovely flower in her hair. Around her are a bunch of blue air bubbles to make it look like she is under the sea.
Cinderella is in her ball gown. She is holding the glass slipper. Around Cinderella are a bunch of little hearts.
The message “Happy Birthday – Amy – 4th” is split between the three swiss rolls.
The thing that blows my mind about these decorated swiss rolls is that all the details you see are applied first thing. You get your pan ready. Then before you add the batter, you put in the things you want to appear on the top of the cake roll. Since the top is facing the pan, what you’re actually doing is placing a mirror image of what you want to appear on top of your swiss roll. Then you very gently spoon in batter to cover these images without moving or ruining them. Once that’s done, then you add the rest of the batter. I’ve never tried this myself, since I can’t even get a basic swiss roll to work without cracking.
